Embracing Small Victories: A Positive Reflection

Yesterday, I experienced the fastest infusion ever. Despite being on antifatigue medication at just 9 a.m., I fell asleep shortly after my steroids started. The nurses woke me up periodically to check on me, concerned about my vitals. My blood pressure, typically low at 100/60 with a heart rate around 50, was even lower. Despite their concerns, I drifted back to sleep each time.

When I finally woke up, it was to the sound of a beeping IV pump. The nurse informed me that my infusion was complete, and my waiting time was already over. Remarkably, I had slept through the entire process, including the video playing, nurses coming and going, the IV pump beeping, and other patients in the unit. As a light sleeper who normally wakes up to my dogs’ morning sounds, it was surprising to find myself so deeply asleep, especially with the medications that usually keep me awake.

After leaving the infusion center, I returned home feeling surprisingly energetic. I mowed both the front and back lawns, watered the plants, and removed some weeds. It felt great to be productive and active. Later, I slept well, which was another unexpected but pleasant surprise.

However, today was a different story. I didn’t have much energy and spent most of the day in bed. I didn’t even water the plants, which is usually a sign of a bad day for me. But that’s okay. Every day is different, and it’s important to celebrate the small victories and acknowledge the tougher moments.

Reflecting on yesterday, I am grateful for the energy and productivity I experienced. It’s a reminder that even on difficult days, there are moments of strength and resilience. Today might have been a slower day, but that’s part of the journey. Each day brings new opportunities, and I am hopeful for a better tomorrow.

Here’s to embracing the small victories and staying positive, even when the days are tough. Tomorrow is a new day, and I am ready to face it with renewed hope and determination.
