A Week of Healing, Hiccups, and Hope

This week has been a bit of a rollercoaster, with some unexpected twists and turns in my recovery journey. But amidst the challenges, there have also been moments of growth and joy, both from my own healing and the quiet magic of nurturing life in my little indoor jungle.

Healing with a Hurdle:

Months ago, I breezed through surgery, feeling pretty darn good. Then, wham! The last month brought a surprise visitor – pain. It got pretty intense, forcing me to spend more time in bed than I'd like. Turns out, the culprit wasn't something lurking under my scar, but scar tissue itself. Who knew?
Thankfully, this isn't uncharted territory. Back when I broke my hand, physical therapy worked wonders on my scar. So, here I go again, ready to tackle this new hurdle with the help of my trusty PT.

Body Blues:

While the scar tissue is a recent development, I've been dealing with some ongoing challenges in my hands and legs.  Pain and cramps are unwelcome companions, making even simple tasks like walking and getting dressed a struggle.  These issues definitely deserve some medical attention, so I'll be sure to loop in my doctor to see what's going on.

A New Sensory Surprise:

Speaking of mysteries, add a recent change in sensation to the mix! While sipping water, the right side of my lip feels strangely warm, even when the cup itself is cold.  It's a bit unsettling, but at least it's not the complete lack of movement I experienced with my left lip a while back (thanks, hot tea!).  This new development definitely warrants a mention to my doctor during my next visit.

From Bed to Plant Paradise:

Now, let's shift gears to something a little more uplifting – my indoor plant haven! With the cooler weather, I've brought most of my green friends back inside.  Sadly, my mango plant seems to be on its last leg.  I tried everything, but the issue progressed despite the silica treatment.  However, there's still a glimmer of hope!  I've nestled it in a warm compost bin, a last-ditch effort to see if the magic of worm castings can work its wonders.
On a brighter note, my other mango looks fantastic, even though the fruit isn't quite ripe yet.  Speaking of keeping things tidy, I gave all my indoor plants a good trim, removing any dead leaves, branches, and spent flowers.  These trimmings will either become worm food or join the compost pile.
Speaking of composting…

Worm Wiggles and Sensory Therapy:

This week, I emptied my worm bin twice, using some of the "castings gold" to nourish my plants and sharing the rest with my happy little worm family.  Taking care of them – aerating, feeding, and watering – is surprisingly relaxing. It's a sensory experience I find oddly calming, and the best part? It's gentle on my hands. Unlike feeding Coco and Chase (my furry companions) twice a day, which can be a workout with those heavy food bags! Thankfully, my eldest helps out with that chore, bless their heart.

Looking Forward:

So, that's been my week!  While there have been some unexpected bumps in the road, I'm staying positive.  Physical therapy is on the horizon, and I'm determined to get to the bottom of these new aches and pains.  In the meantime, I'll find solace in nurturing my plants and the quiet satisfaction of my little worm sanctuary.
